"Simply put, Aline Morales’ self-released Flores, Tambores e Amores may be the ?nest Brazilian album ever produced in Canada. " - The Grid, Toronto.

Since moving to Canada from Brazil in 2006, singer/composer/percussionist Aline Morales has become one the most recognized musicians in Toronto's world music scene. The newest stage in her remarkable career, the solo CD entitled "Flores, Tambores e Amores," launched to critical acclaim in May 2011. The album is an ambitious showcase for Aline’s versatility as a composer, percussionist and singer. Rooted in Brazilian styles of samba, forró, Northeastern folk music and tropicalia, "Flores, Tambores e Amores" is nonetheless musique sans frontieres, where traces of Italian film scores, African sounds, avant garde poetry and vintage synths ebb and flow throughout.

“Refusing to take shortcuts, she forges her own path with Flores Tambores E Amores.” (Exclaim.ca)

Born into a family of four sisters in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Aline Morales began her performing career as a child training in capoeira, the Afro-Brazilian martial arts. This lead to her studying the rhythms of maracatu (the Afro-Brazilian culture of northern Brazil) with renowned teachers Lenis Rino and Eder O Rocha. She began her performance career with a variety of Brazilian groups who opened for famed artists such as Manu Chao, Jorge Ben Jor and Otto. Later she joined with one of Brazil's most well-known maracatu groups, Nacao Estrela Brilhante do Recife led by Mestre Walter de Franca. As well, she developed her teaching skills as part of a city programme for young people.

To perform the eclectic new repertoire from Flores, Tambores e Amores, Aline has assembled a all-star six-piece band made up of some of the biggest names in Toronto's Brazilian music scene, including renowned percussionist Maninho Costa, drummer Silas Silva and musical director David Arcus, who also produced the album.
